Following the recently announced cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan, the Indian Air Force (IAF) issued a statement confirming that while key objectives under Operation Sindoor have been achieved with “precision and professionalism,” military operations are still ongoing.
Taking to its official handle on X, the IAF emphasized that the operation was conducted in alignment with national objectives and executed in a “deliberate and discreet manner.” The force cautioned against speculation and the spread of unverified information, adding that a detailed official briefing will be provided in due course.
“The Indian Air Force (IAF) has successfully executed its assigned tasks in Operation Sindoor, with precision and professionalism. Operations were conducted in a deliberate and discreet manner, aligned with National Objectives. Since the operations are still ongoing, a detailed briefing will be conducted in due course. The IAF urges all to refrain from speculation and dissemination of unverified information,” read the IAF’s post.
Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 in retaliation to the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 Indian tourists. The Indian Armed Forces targeted nine terror infrastructure sites located deep within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The conflict escalated in the days following the operation, leading to intensified cross-border shelling and drone activity from Pakistan, prompting India to implement security blackouts in border areas including Jammu, Srinagar, Kathua, and Udhampur. Additional blackouts were enforced in Punjab’s Pathankot and Ferozepur and in Rajasthan’s Barmer and Jaisalmer.
The situation appeared to take a diplomatic turn on May 10 after U.S. President Donald Trump announced on his Truth Social platform that a ceasefire had been achieved between India and Pakistan. This was later confirmed by Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, who stated that the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) from both nations had agreed to halt all military actions by 5:00 p.m. IST that day.
Despite the agreement, reports of ceasefire violations continued Saturday night, including drone intrusions and air defence engagements in key border regions.
The IAF’s statement serves as a reminder that while high-level diplomatic channels are engaged, on-ground military operations remain active, and clarity will only emerge once official briefings are held.
